The Florida Athletic Club was formed in 1988 as the only State-Wide club in Florida. We welcome athletes of all ages and ability. FAC has no age group requirement, and we have athletes from ages 10-90. Our Masters' team constitutes one of the top Masters' Track & Field and Race Walking Teams in the country. FAC, under the name of "FLORIDA ATHLETICS, INC." is a recognized charity under the Internal Revenue Code, and as such all donations are tax deductible. We are also exempt from state sales tax.
FAC pays all of the USATF club registration fees, Florida Convention fees, newsletter, mailings, equipment, office expenses, and underwrites the cost of medals, and uniforms. We host an Annual Award Banquet and provide free club patches to all new members. We maintain not only our club membership, but mailing lists of over 900 potential participants in track & field.
It is expected that the unofficial National Masters Track & Field team championships will become official in the near future. These are the only team championships held in Masters’ competition. Thus, by combining our efforts Florida should score high in team scoring.
FAC is the major sponsor of track meets in the state of Florida.. Club dues go towards underwriting the cost of these meets. In 2005, we plan to host over a dozen track meets throughout the state. As a state-wide club, we have established chapters throughout the state of Florida. Each chapter elects their own officers and sponsors events. Any profit from such event(s) goes to the sponsoring chapter. If a chapter has more than fifty members, FAC will provide a special patch indicating the chapters' name.
