ANALYSIS

FAC has 41 competitors, 5 of whom were recruited  from out of State.

Phil Rasker                83

Tom Rauscher            7

Jack Starr                   14

Jimmy Sutton 24

Jerry Smartt               12

Total Points                140

% of club members    12%\

S. Cal had 32 competitors of whom 14 were not from the S. Cal. Association. There may have been more as it would be possible to live in Calif. And not be in the S. Cal. Assoc.

The % of S. Cal  club members who did not live in the Assoc. was 44%. They scored 138 points, not including the relays

If the points scored by our out of State members would be subtracted from our total points that would be 353.

If the points scored by s. Cal members not from the Assoc-

Iations territory, their points would be 249

The conclusion is that the S. Cal. Club with 44% of their members from out of their Association would have finished 4th without them.

This is why S. Cal. is not held in great repute in  the Masters

Program In fact, our 5 “recruits” outscored S. Cal’s 10  recruits  by 2 points

Many of our club members have been helpful in “networking” to obtain  new club members.

FAC is weak in the younger women’s events and in the distance runs , except of the 70-75 group.

Please let the club know of any potential members. Ability is not an important criteria. Everyone is welcome.

Scoring is six deep. None of the relay divisions had more than three club teams in any of the relays. This provides  our non-championship caliber athletes the opportunity to secure a medal and contribute to team points.

There will be travel expense money available to the National Masters Indoor and Outdoor Championships. To maintain our number 1 position as the top Masters’ club in the country, please plan on participating in both championships. We are planning to have a larger stipend for the Spokane meet.

2008 MASTERS’ NAT’L

CHAMPIONSHIP

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

It would seem, since Spokane

is much further from Florida than Orono, Maine, that the air fares would be higher.
As of Aug. 27, 2007 flying to
Spokane from Ft. Lauderdale is $39 cheaper; from Orlando $85 cheaper and from Tampa $36 higher.

Thus, the air fare should not be a consideration in compet-ing in Spokane. The two  California Clubs: S. Cal. Fleet Foot and Golden West (out of Sacramento) are planning to have large squads. FAC has already been written off.

There is no financial reason why FAC can not have 50 or more members compete, part-

icularly with a travel stipend. I estimate 40 team members could win the team champion-

ship; and 50 could just about guarantee a team victory.

So, make plans now to com-

pete in Spokane
