This is not a criticism of the 80% who did not. Injury, family responsibilities, vacations, and lack of training were all legitimate reasons not to compete. They will be contacted to join the club. It was extremely hot – hotter than the performances were below par. The team scores for the top four teams were: Fleet Foot ( Southern There have been two different problems regarding team scoring. The other problem is the “nickel and dime” approach. This was used by Fleet Foot, particularly for the younger women. The club would wait until the last minute to determine which events did not have a full compliment of competitors. They would then enter as many as ten events per individual, regardless of whether the individuals had any training or technical knowledge of the event. The most glaring example, was a lady in the 400 meter hurdles who competed with a cast on her leg. She walked between the hurdles and climbed over the hurdle. The Masters T&F Executive Committee discuss- ed this & will have a Safety Judge to remove those athletes who obviously have not trained for the event. There might be other restrict- ions imposed. | ||
